If you seek to do business with people online, here are a few tidbits to keep in mind, that could get in your way.
While some of these things may appear trivial on the face of it, you may lose droves of potential clients that may need or want your services.
-- It took me years to realize these things, and can make all the difference in your building a thriving business or not.
(1) NOT GIVING FULL INFORMATION
.
Saw on Facebook a link to a free webinar. It didn't mention what time the webinar was. I had to register for it in order to find out that it was at a time I'd be with a client. It also didn't say before or after registering if there would be a recording of the webinar sent.
.
You may lose potential clients that may be busy right there with lack of info.
.
(2) VOID IN INTERACTING WITH THOSE YOU SEEK BUSINESS FROM
.
Regarding the above webinar, after receiving a confirmation email regarding the webinar I could not attend, I emailed back asking if there would be a recording. You guessed it, I got no answer. This is a turnoff.
.
If you are seeking new business online but you are not interacting with your audience, then you are not yet fully engaged in your business. This could cost you clients and money.
.
This is a very common thing with those that have new businesses -- being stuck in your own head, not relating to or interacting with those you want business from. It doesn't work like that.
.
Days later I received a recording. By then I was onto other things, and after receiving sales type emails each mail for 4 days following the webinar I missed - the person and his company appeared to be disconnected a bit of a nuisance now daily do sales hits.
.
When people that are seeking business are so self-involved in their heads or do not give full info or do not have a virtual assistant to respond to others -- people are quite busy, they will move on and away to other things, they might or might not return. You've now wasted time and energy that could have been used better.
.
(3) INTERACTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA
.
Interacting in your business on social media for some can be very challenging. I know for me in the first few years of business - it didn't do much for me and I didn't know why. I didn't know I was challenged. We don't know what we don't know. Lol!
.
So you're excited, you're finally doing it -- you're launching a new business! You get online, you present what you do, and it will just happen, right? Wrong! It doesn't work that way.
.
How you interact online, your presence, if you connet on your posts, if you respond to comments on your posts, all of these things resonate you and determine if you will make a connection, or not.
.
In my first few years of business first as a Life Coach (later was a Business Coach and thankfully knew bettyer by then) -- I was more busy spouting what I knew as an "expert" -- than taking the time to interact with people, to inspire, to learn re the people on my page:
-- what they knew,
-- what they felt,
-- what they wanted to happen next,
-- what lights their fire,
-- where is their joy,
-- where is their motivation,
-- where is the gap they want to fill,
-- how can I help motivate,
-- how can I help inspire,
-- how can I better listen,
-- how can I better engage,
-- how can I serve.
.
The first few years of my business, I made what I thought were profound statements. I learned so much in coaching school. But the error was that I didn't seek to learn of and about others, I didn't interact.
If someone takes the time to interact on your posts, then it is up to you to honor who they are, what they think, what they feel -- and to take the time to answer them. Sometimes it is okay to click like to a comment. But most of the time, if people take time out of their busy schedule to acknowledge and write comments on your posts on your business page -- and you don't also comment or have some response other than a Like click -- then you are not really engaged in your business.
(4) CONNECTING vs. DISCONNECTING
This topic too may sound trivial, but this river runs deep.
If you are living in your head or fantasy of your business and are not connecting to yourself, your passion, your motivation, moving past your fears and anxiety, you could very well be disconnected from yourself just to get by. I get that, it can happen, sometimes there is too much on someone's plate. We don't want to judge anyone's experience.
.
Unfortunately, if you are disconnected from yourself, it is likely you are disconnected from others. If you are seeking business online and it is a service business, as opposed to hard products that sell, and you are disconnected from yourself and your motivation, then it is quite possible you are disconnected to your approach with others. This could get in the way of attracting business. You could go through the actions, and be on overdrive, and long hours of it ... but if you are not engaged and comfortably interacting with others in a positive way, resonating who you are on a core level -- authentic and ready to receive -- you could be losing a lot of potential business.
There are a great many Success Strategies that can be used in achieving the business you want. These are a few tidbits that may help you move forward.
