There were times in my
life I insulated myself.
Have you ever done this?
Many people insulate themselves thinking that they will get by better, uninterrupted --
by not dealing with something,
by not feeling something,
by not wanting something,
by not being who they want to be,
by not saying what they want to say,
by not having what they want to have.
On the face of it, one might think they can get by better, but the reality is it can be a disconnect from self. A disconnect from our self might have some gain to it, but does it cost you anything? Here's why I ask this.
What we don't deal with ... burrows into our MIND-BODY-SOUL.
THE MIND
If one is insulated, one's thoughts are not free to move forward in the positive, or to think outside the box, because it is already taken up with keeping something hidden from one's self, it is preoccupied. In a sense, we have shut ourselves down and shut ourselves off. To open things up in thoughts is to open up Pandora's Box, right? And then what do you do with it?
THE BODY
The body absorbs those thoughts and emotions that we don't deal with. Thoughts, believe it or not, can re-emerge in our body. Those thoughts show up on a cellular level as disease (dis-ease), because the mind and body are connected. To attempt to separate from our thoughts and our memories we fragment ourselves -- we are now working as disconnected parts -- rather than part of a whole. Different parts working against each other. Does this make sense?
Instead of resolving and healing those thoughts-memories and making them into what will work for us and to positively motivate our lives, separating the mind and body - can create havoc. It could cost one's health and create a journey all it's own at some point in disease where one no longer has a choice of avoiding those thoughts, the body will demand attention in disease. It is the price paid for such a disconnect. Many of us have experienced this. I know I have. Years ago, I didn't deal with what was occurring within me, and tried to lock it up. It always showed up in my body and my health, surgeries, illness.
THE SOUL
The soul our life journey, our essence, our life lessons -- in past, present, and future. It is connected to our heart's desires, our life purpose and mission.
If we lock up our thoughts and memories, and shut them down, we also shut down our heart's desires, our life purpose, our motivation, our possibilities, our joy. We shut down the possibility of discovering what these things are for us and what they mean to us.
"Millions of people have decided not to be sensitive.
They have grown thick skins around themselves just
to avoid being hurt by anybody. But it is at great cost.
Nobody can hurt them, but nobody can make them
happy either." ~ Osho
I wonder if "happy" is an inside job. What do you think?
Which is greater with a disconnect from self, the Gain or the Loss?
Is that something you're willing to trade?
